Bettisue Hawes Tillman, 66, of Wallace, left this life for her eternal rest on Thursday, February 5, 2015.
Born September 10, 1948 in Duplin County she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bettie Blanchard Hawes.
She was a member of Wallace Presbyterian Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 39 years, Joseph Tillman of the home; her daughters, Ann Tillman Johnson and husband Matthew of Clinton, Andrea Tillman Waters and husband, Jason of Sanford and Bettie Jo Tillman of McLeansville; grandchildren, Connor Johnson, Caleb Waters, Will Johnson and Luke Waters; Sister, Doris Ann Farrior and husband, Keith of Wallace; brothers, Edward Hawes of Richlands and Julian Hawes and wife, Sarah of Pinehurst and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Bettisue was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace who was a joy to be around. She was a lady in every sense of the word. She was a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. Bettisue loved good food and socializing, enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, loved to travel, and she had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Wallace Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Philip Gladden officiating.
Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial gifts be sent to Wallace Presbyterian Church, Helping Hands Food Pantry, PO Box 717, Wallace, NC 28466.
