Betty Ann
Griffin
Oct 23, 1942 — Aug 21, 2022
Betty Ann Cook Griffin, 79, of Rocky Point passed from her earthly life on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.
She was born October 23, 1942 in Pender County to Charles Lewis Cook and Gertie Gurganious Cook. In addition to her parents Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, James Ray Griffin in 2017; brothers, Clemmon L. Cook and C. Kenneth Cook.
Ann leaves behind her loving family: daughter, Teresa Griffin; son, James Griffin, Jr.; sisters, Ruby Cook Krockman and Gayle D. Cook; niece, Brenda K. Watkins; sister-in-law, Pat Cook; brother-in-law, Walter Griffin and his wife, Faye; many extended family members and friends. Not to be forgotten are her fur babies, Tiger, King, sissy, Sammy and Lucky.
When Teresa and James attended Pender Academy Ann volunteered at the school on a regular basis, in fact she was so beneficial that she became a permanent part of the school staff and worked until the school closed. She dearly loved all the kids at the school.
Ann was a loving and giving lady who loved her Lord and her family. She was a joy to be around, wonderful homemaker with baking being her specialty, and generous beyond measure. She was a true example of what it meant to be a Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Her presence in our lives will be forever missed but we find solace in knowing she is at peace and rejoicing with her Almighty Father.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
Funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Merrell McKoy conducting the service. Burial will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Rylan Penley, Tony Cook, Aaron Cook, Walter Griffin, Tex Watkins, and Billy Roof.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Davita Burgaw Dialysis Center, Dr. George Sylvestri and his staff, and Amy Penley for the excellent care and loving support given to Betty Ann and to us as Ann's family.
