Betty Moore Jones, age 74, of Willard left this earthy life for her eternal rest on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from Pender Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 5, 1936 in Sampson County; the daughter of the late Alexander and Edna Malpass Moore. She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William "Bill" Luther Jones in 2006; sister, Inez Moore Harvell and brothers, Manley Moore and James Moore.

Mrs. Jones retired after 23 years of service from Pender Memorial Hospital due to declining health. She was an active member of Penderlea Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

Surviving are her loving daughters, Shirley Jones Rich and husband, Mel, Sharon "Bug" Jones Fraser and husband, Jim, all of Willard and Sheila Jones and fiance, Robert Moore of Currie; grandchildren, Olivia Rich Herndon and husband, Phillip, Richie Rich, Amberly Anderson, Adam Rivenbark, Abbie Rivenbark, Kinsley Fraser and Kaylyn Fraser; great granddaughter, Amberlyn Anderson; "adopted" son, Ray Donald of Wallace; special caregiver, Pandora Matthews and her special canine companions, Lily and Luke.

Betty loved her family dearly and was very devoted to each one of them. She was a diligent homemaker and great cook. With a joyful spirit Betty filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Being a good neighbor and friend she was loved by all who knew her. Betty's family is grateful to God for her life and they consider themselves to be very blessed to have had such a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

A celebration of Mrs. Jones' life will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Rick Moorethe Reverend Norman Wheeler and the Reverend Sammy Boone officiating.

Burial will follow in Potts Presbyterian Church Memorial Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be her friends, The Gospel Lites, her favorite singing group.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 pm Sunday, prior the funeral service at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and other times at Mrs. Jones' residence.
