Death comes like the birth of a baby, when it's time. Birth, death, sleep, and healing, each comes in its own time. Whatever comes, we can trust that we are in the hands of a God that loves us.

Betty Eakins Marks went to be with Jesus on January 16, 2025 in Pender County.

She was born April 30, 1949 in Pender County, the daughter of Festus and Eunice Watkins Eakins. In addition to her parents Betty was predeceased by her niece, Jodi Tynch.

Betty was the most loving daughter, Mama, Gaga, aunt, sister and friend. She never met a stranger and loved to reminisce about her Mama and Daddy, and her '69 Camaro. She was a "go-getter" who worked hard to take care of her children, grandchildren and her cherished "kitty cats". Above all, she loved her Lord Jesus and longed to be with Him. Her family is thankful she is healed and whole, and forever grateful for the many prayers lifted for her. Betty was truly one of a kind; her wit, compassion, and light will be deeply missed.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Melissa Barnhill (Eddie); son, Jason Marks (Amanda); grandchildren, Samuel Marks, Taylor Barnhill, Madeline Marks, Austin Marks, Logan Marks, and Makenzie Barnhill; brother, Larry Eakins (Joyce); niece, Kim Basden (Jimmy B); many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home and at other times will welcome friends at Jason and Amanda's home and at Melissa and Eddie's home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday January 20, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Gardner Eakins conducting the service.

Burial will follow in the Herring Family Cemetery.
