Obituary

Betty Boswell Oliver, 77, of Rocky Point and formerly of Lake Wales, Florida passed peacefully from her earthly life on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her home.

She was born February 6, 1936 in Burgaw and was the daughter of the late Homer and Laura Robinson Boswell. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Warren Oliver in 1981.

Betty is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Judy Thompson and Linda Oliver both of Rocky Point; son, Joseph Oliver and wife, Jennifer of Urbana, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Thompson of Rocky Point, Jason Thompson of Burgaw, Eric Pettus of Rocky Point, Joshua Oliver of Visalia, California, Donald Thompson of Rocky Point and Jordan Oliver of Urbana, Ohio; nine great grandchildren; and brother, Charles Boswell of Biloxi, Mississippi.

Betty was a devoted wife and a loving mother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was family. She enjoyed reading, watching Fox News and best of all spending time with her beloved family. Everyone loved her wit, good sense of humor and ability to speak what was on her mind. For the past year Betty fought a courageous battle with breast cancer and she would say to us today, "Remember me not with tears of sorrow, for my destiny in complete and I am smiling." Betty has left to all of us a legacy of faith and courage.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Nathan Morton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
