Betty Jean Morgan Samsel, 93, of Rose Hill, North Carolina and formerly of Syracuse, New York left this life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from Vidant Duplin Hospital.

She was born June 20, 1922 in Syracuse, New York and was the last survivor of 8 children of the late Homer and Melissa Pitcher Morgan.

Betty is survived by her loving daughter and husband, Cheri and Ron Jarman of Wallace, North Carolina ; grandson, J. Paul Jarman; granddaughter, Melissa Gwost and husband, Jeff; great grandson, Ronnie Gwost and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Betty was a devoted mother and caring grandmother who loved her family dearly. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. Being a diligent homemaker, she filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Betty was a very independent woman who worked hard for her family because they were most important in her life. For her pastime, she enjoyed reading and her favorite flowers were roses. Betty will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later. Betty will be buried in Pine Plains Cemetery in Clay, New York.
