Betty Wells Stokes, 84, of Augusta, GA passed from her earthly life on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home.

She was born November 8, 1932 in Wilmington, NC, the daughter of the late John Dickerson and Viola Nelson Wells. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Howard Stokes; sister, Doris Dorman; and brothers, John D. Wells, Jr., Roy Wayne Wells and James Earl Wells.

Betty is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Andrew Grimaud and Pam and Rob Shearer; four grandchildren, Amanda Galbraith, Amber Grimaud, Dustin Amison, and Nicole Amison; and eight great grandchildren.

Betty loved the Lord, her family, and was a devoted friend to many. She was a member of Solomon's Porch Church in Augusta, GA. Her zest for life, cheerful smile and sweet, sweet spirit will always be remembered.

Funeral service in Georgia will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with The Rev. Andrew Ottaway officiating.
