Betty Jean Yarborough, 76, of Rocky Point, NC and formerly of Sanford passed gently from her earthly life Friday, June 4, 2021 at her home.

She was born November 16, 1944 in Lee County, the daughter of Benjamin McFarland and Mary Holder McFarland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Archie Yarborough; grandson, Jalen Woods; and siblings, Lorraine Harrison, Lois Cockrell, Lawden McFarland, Margaret Quates, Dixie Benz, and Lacy McFarland.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Christina McLaughlin and husband, James, and Monica Yarborough; grandchildren, Nicholas Eldred and wife, Stephanie, Zachary Eldred, and Braden Rosser; great grandson, Oliver Eldred; siblings, Alice Faye Parrish, Larry McFarland, and Richard McFarland; many extended family and friends.

Betty was a long time member of Flat Springs Baptist Church in Sanford.

Betty loved spending time with her beloved family and many friends. She had a soft spot in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandson.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Flat Springs Baptist Church, 4148 Deep River Road, Sanford, NC 27330.  The Rev. Dr. W. Gary McCollough will conduct the service. Following the memorial service the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
