Billy "Bill" Elsworth English, age 71, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, December 9, 2013 from Durham VA Medical Center.

He was born March 27, 1942 in Pender County and was the son of the late Norman and Mavis Mills English. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jim English.

Mr. English served his country honorably in the US Army and received a purple heart during the Vietnam Era. He was owner of Bill English Ford in Wallace and a member of First Baptist Church of Wallace.

Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Ann Fussell English; daughter, Angela Richardson and husband, Clay of Hampstead; son, Nicholas "Nick" English of Wallace; grandchildren, Trey Richardson and Emilie Richardson; sisters, Ann Ingram and husband, Sam of Wilmington, Cynthia Smith and husband, Earl of Carolina Beach and Christine Gieselman and husband, Richard of North Topsail Beach; one uncle; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. Being a car dealer all of his adult life, Bill acquired many friends during the years. He was a people's person and went out of his way to help his others. Bill will surely be missed but cherished memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Wallace with the Reverend Dr. Alan Thompson and the Reverend Dr. Dennis Bazemore officiating.

The family will receive friends at Bill and Ann's home.
