Billy Royce Liles, 83, of Leland, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born on July 1, 1938, in Roxboro, NC, to the late Luther Calvin and Mamie Ann (Todd) Liles.

Billy was a hard-working man who loved people. He enjoyed playing golf, travelling, and reading books. But most of all he loved his family and was a bright light to all who knew him.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia (Oxendine) Liles; daughters, Bonnie Johnson, Suzanne Taylor; son, Calvin Liles; sisters, Norma Harris, Frances Taylor; grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Nicholas, Erin, Elena, Stella; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Bailey, Brynleigh, Hudson; great great-grandchild, Asher; and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gwendolyn Kay Thomas, and his sister, Linda Massey.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with Chaplain Garry Deese officiating.
