Billy Pridgen, 86, passed from his earthly life December 20, 2020 at his home. He was born May 10, 1934 in Bladen County, the son of the late Fred Charles and Juanita Melvin Pridgen.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Peterson Pridgen; grandson, William Ryan Burns; sisters, Doris Pridgen, Christine Bullard and brother, Allen Pridgen.
He is survived by his daughter, Ramona Pridgen Burns (Edwin); son, Keith Pridgen (Amy); grandchildren, Samantha White (John), Mariana Pridgen and Samuel Burns and great grandson, Judson White.
Billy honorably served his country in the tank division of the US Army. He was a deacon in his beloved Ivanhoe Baptist Church. Working tirelessly for 57 years to provide for his family, Billy was an accomplished brick mason. Billy, in his quiet way, along with his crew gifted his time, skills and talents as a brick mason by helping to finish the Matthew 25 House in Burgaw, build church signs, brick work at Harrells Christian Academy, and making home repairs after storms. With a great love for the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed sports and found great pleasure in watching UNC basketball and NASCAR. Most of all Billy loved his cherished family.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Ivanhoe Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Lynn Bullock and the Rev. Melvin Hall officiating.
It is requested that everyone wear a mask.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Billy's caregivers, BJ, Mary and Dorothy who took such loving care of Billy for the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Ivanhoe Baptist Church, 200 Eddie L Jones Rd, Ivanhoe, NC 28447.
