Obituary

Blondell Dennis Tucker, a lady filled with grace and goodness has departed her earthly life on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the age of 97.

She was born to Estelle Staley and Mott Blair Dennis Sr. in Troy, NC on February 19, 1926.

Blondell is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Henriksen (Rick); Blondell was blessed with four grandchildren, James Tucker III, (Vickie), Ashley Henderson (Jason), Courtney Tucker, Harold Henriksen (Bonnie); eight great grandchildren, Hunter, Abby (Joshua), Logan, Grace, Brady, Elijah, Hadley, and Reed; and daughter-in-law, Terri King (Bill).

Blondell was predeceased by her parents; husband, James Sr. "Jim"; her son, James Jr. "Jimmy"; and her brother, Mott Dennis Jr.

Blondell graduated from Troy High School and attended Flora McDonald College, Red Springs, NC (now St. Andrews College). She was employed as a secretary in the Production Department at the NC shipyard during WWII. Later she was employed with the law office of S. H. McCall before her marriage to Jim in 1949. She was employed with the Pender County DSS for 27 years.

Her life was dedicated to raising her two children and being a loving wife and mother, and being a friend to all she encountered. Her overall love of people and selflessness in everything she did made Blondell a bright light in the world, leaving imprints of peace, compassion, and joy on all she encountered.

Blondell spent over 60 years of her life in Burgaw, where she was an active member of Burgaw Baptist Church. She was a member of A.R.E.M.E. # 372 Order of the Eastern Star.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2023 in the Fellowship Hall of Burgaw Baptist Church with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Danny Justice and The Rev. Tom Canady will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be James Tucker III, Harold Henriksen, Hunter Tucker, Jason Henderson, Logan Henderson, and Joshua Carter.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burgaw Baptist Church, PO Box 385, Burgaw, NC 28425.
