Obituary

A kind and gentle soul, a gracious and loving lady, Bobbie Ricks Lane entered the glory of her Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the age 95. She was born December 29, 1928 to Arthur Ricks and Eleanor Ricks Voorhees, living most of her wonderful life in the outskirts of Burgaw.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Sidney Marion Lane and her granddaughter, Joy Highsmith Whitley.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Linda Lane Jordan, Charles Marion Lane (Judy), Greig Sidney Lane (Beth); grandchildren, Mandy Highsmith Baker (Austin), James Sidney Highsmith (Connie), Daniel Scott Lane, Benjamin Reid Lane (Elizabeth), Ashley Lane Bryant (Stephen), Bradley Greig Lane (Sarah), Craig Sidney Lane (Destiny); and great-grandchildren, Sabrena Mathews, Logan Whitley, Miranda Baker, Sidney Highsmith, Lilyanna Lane, Aubrey Lane, Colt Lane, Tyler Bryant, Laney Bryant, Eli Lane and Tucker Lane; many extended family and friends.

Bobbie was the oldest and a most faithful member of Jordans Chapel Methodist Church.

Faith, family, food and fun come to mind when thinking of Bobba. She was a lady of many skilled talents – an accomplished seamstress, delectable cook, baby/youth care for many kids, gardening, canning, and you name it Bobba could and did do it. Her favorite hobby was ordering from QVC and she amassed lots of "treasures" as a result of her phone calls. All will agree without a doubt that Bobba was an independent Southern lady. First and foremost, Bobba loved, served, and cared for her family all of her life. Bobba had a blessed life and was ready to go to her heavenly home.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Jordans Chapel Methodist Church with service at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. D. L. Page will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
