Obituary

Bobby Ray ”B-Bob” Graley, also known fondly as Papa Hoot, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 16, 2026. He was born February 9, 1937, to the late Mettie Ray and Mary Ketchum Grayley in Midkiff, West Virginia. He was also proceeded in death by his wife of 42 years, Delcie Graley; his sister-in-law, Myrtle Marie Wells; son, Jerry 'Junior' Bostic and his wife, Irene Bostic; grandchildren, Katina Bostic, Ashleigh Jordann Dale, and Jerry Lee Bostic; brothers, Junior and Chuck Graley; sisters, Kathleen Pauley and Betty Dunlap.

Bobby served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962 when he was medically discharged. After being discharged from the Army he worked at Metals USA as a Senior Layout Technician.

He married Delcie Sherrill in September 1964 and became an instant father to 7 children. That family rapidly expanded to include 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Bobby enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, mowing grass, and chewing his tobacco. He loved country and gospel music; George Jones and Elvis Presley being his favorites.

He is survived by his children, Terri Wilson, (Jack) of Petersburg, WV, Johnny Bostic (Jayne) of Burlington, NC, Peggy Dale (Gary) of Willard, NC, Don Sherrill (Joanne) of Wilmington, NC, Bob Sherrill (Betty) of Willard, NC, and his baby girl, Vickie Sherrill (Wesley) of Shallotte, NC.

A Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Riverview Memorial Park.   Mr. Gary Dale will conduct the service.

The family would like to thank his nurses Tracy and Sam on the second floor at Novant Health, the entire staff and Veteran's Committee of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, and his in-home nurse-aid Melissa Trudeau. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in care of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
