Obituary

Bobby Jackson Padgett, age 77, of Willard died Monday, January 4, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 19, 1932 in Pender County and was the youngest of six children of the late Henry Allen and Lena Piner Padgett. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Joe Padgett, Charlie Oscar Padgett, Elma Padgett Sholar, Catherine Padgett Knowles and Willie Padgett.

Mr. Padgett served his country honorably in the US Army. After retiring from Harrells Christian Academy he went to work at Walmart where he enjoyed meeting people and making new friends.

Surviving are his devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Loretta Mobley Padgett of the home; his loving children, Janice P. Ellington and husband, Michael of Henderson and Stephan Padgett of Willard; grandchildren, Chrystal Needham-Ivey and husband, Mike, Michael Allen Ellington and Katie Elizabeth Padgett; great grandchildren, Kelsey Brook Ivey and Kaylee Faith Ivey.

Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Dewey Ball and the Reverend Macon Wood officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home until 9:00 pm.

Graveside service will be Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Bobby was a devoted husband and father who loved his family and friends dearly. He was a hard worker and went beyond his call of duty to help others. Being loved by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.
