Obituary

Bobby Ray "Cotton" James, age 68,of Wallace died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born July 5, 1943 in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Lester and Adell Raynor James. He was predeceased by his brothers, Tommy James and Jimmy James and sister, Nancy Isabelle James.

Surviving are his sisters, Jeanette Piner and husband, Bruce, Carolene Cavenaugh, Mary Rivenbark and husband, Ray, all of Willard, Gerrie Futrell and husband, B.S. and Betty Rackley, all of Wallace and Carolyn Moore and husband, Buck of Willard; numerous nieces and nephews and best friend, Roy Dean Bowen of Albertson.

Cotton, as he was affectionately called, was a simple man who loved his family and friends dearly. He enjoyed Nascar racing especially his favorite driver, #24, Jeff Gordon. With a big heart and gentle spirit, Cotton would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. One of his most favorite pasttimes was sitting at the clock (his "Time Square") in downtown Wallace. Cotton will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Boone and the Rev. Robert Jarman officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral homeand other times at Carolyn and Buck Moore's home.
