Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Chiquita Clayton, age 72, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.

She was born on September 2, 1948 in Wilmington, NC to the late Joseph Earl Sikes and Launa (Harrell) Sikes.

Bonnie graduated from Wallace-Rose Hill High School in 1965. She enjoyed painting, fishing, and planting flowers in her garden. Bonnie did lots of traveling with her husband, Jack, and their Miniature Pekingese, Belle, and they created many friendships on the road. She was a hands-on creator with a talent for ceramics. As the office manager at Creekside Marina in Wilmington, Bonnie was considered a second mother to the crew and their families. She liked to talk and never met a stranger. Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Jack Calvin Clayton; son, Christopher Earl Clayton and wife, Mary Elaine; daughter, Tammy Bishop and husband, Dwayne; brothers, John Sikes and wife, Peggy, and Joseph Earl Sikes and wife, Karen; sister, Martha Thompson and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Courtney Paige Montjoy and husband, Charles, Lauren Ashley Clayton, and Jacob Christopher Clayton; step-granddaughter, Jessica Glickman and husband, Rob; great-grandchildren, Addison Long and Anakin Montjoy; step-great-grandchild, Liam Glickman; many nieces and nephews in the North Carolina and Georgia areas; and her Miniature Pekingese, Belle.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at DaVita Cape Fear Dialysis Center for the excellent care they provided.
