Brent Andrew Ritterbusch, age 5, of Willard, the little boy that stole hundreds of hearts with his courageous battle of Hemophagocytic Lymphohishocytosis, was healed on Friday, March 9, 2012, and is now playing with the angels in Heaven. His contagious smile will forever be missed.

Brent was born to Roy and Jessica Ritterbusch on June 9, 2006 in Wilmington. In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Lauren; brothers, Christian and Trey; all of which Brent referred to as "his kids". Brent also leaves behind his grandparents, Michael and Gena Wells of Watha, Deane and Patricia Pigford of Willard and Roy and Carolyn Ritterbusch of Winnabow; great grandparents, Jesse and Joann Cartwright of Watha and Johnnie and Julia Wells of Willard; and great grandmother, Mildred Pigford of Rose Hill; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and Facebook friends, all who dearly loved Brent.

A courageous and spiritual little boy, Brent touched many lives and lived a bountiful life in his short five years on this earth. He loved Batman, video games and cartoons, but most of all he loved twirling his mother's hair and watching her eat. Brent taught us to love, to laugh, to care, to cherish each minute spent with family and friends. He will forever live within our hearts.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Willard Baptist Church, 880 Church Street, Willard NC 28478, with the Rev. David Knowles and the Rev. Timothy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park with a balloon release.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
