Brian Michael Kavanagh, age 62, of Carolina Beach and formerly of New York passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home.

He was born April 18, 1955 in New York, the son of the late William Kavanagh Sr. and Eileen Orme Kavanagh. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Patricia Kavanagh and his sister, Deidre Kavanagh.

Brian enjoyed farming and had a small farm in Bradford, New York where he and Patricia raised their children. He also enjoyed a career as an ironworker with the Local 580 in New York City. He deeply loved his family, and enjoyed Yankees baseball. He was very happy to fulfill his dream of retiring at the beach.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kristy Bulkley and husband Allan of Clover, SC; two sons, Brian Kavanagh Jr. and wife Kathy from West Point, NY and Shaun Kavanagh and wife Stefanie of Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren whom he adored, Alisha, Ashleigh, Makayla, Patrick, Ethan, Lucas, Tristen and Sofia; brother, William "Billy" Kavanagh; sister, Kerry Polizzi and husband Joe; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12 PM Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to the Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
