“Bubba” Johnson, 61, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

He was born on May 21, 1965, in Wilmington, NC, to the late Margaret May (Burton) Johnson.

Bubba was a collector of rare pennies and medieval weaponry. He enjoyed ocean fishing on his boat and watching professional wrestling. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cathryn Johnson; his son, Justin Johnson; his daughter, Amy Tumminia; his sisters, Tina Strickland, Robin Johnson Banks; his grandchildren, Kayla Morrin, Madi Tumminia, Baylee Apple, Eric Cranford, Lucas Cranford, Eilzabeth Cranford; many other family members and friends; and his beloved dog, Tink.

In addition to his mother, Bubba was also preceded in death by brothers, BJ Burton, Robert Preston Eason; and his uncle, Billy Burton.

A private burial will take place at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Wilmington.
