Burton Chadwick, age 86, of Burgaw died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 15, 1921 in Pender County, the son of the late Mont Julius and Mamie Parker Chadwick. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lucy Blake Chadwick; his step-mother, Latitia Deal Chadwick and son-in-law, Hazel Kirkland.

Mr. Chadwick was a faithful member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. He served honorably in the US Army during WW II.

Surviving are his loving family; his son, Burton Eugene Chadwick and his wife, Shelby of Burgaw; daughters, Nellie Marie C. Swain and her husband, Norman of Watha and Sylvia C. Kirkland of Wallace; grandchildren, Julie Zingone and husband, Vince, Heather O'Brien and husband, Bill, Rebecca Kirkland and Kirk B. Kirkland; great grandson, Cameron Stricek; and brother, Milton Chadwick and wife, Edna of Burgaw.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at Forrest Hills Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, at Forest Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Harrell Hinson, Pastor Timothy Cook and Pastor Leo Bracken officiating.

Burial will follow in Parker-Chadwick Cemetery with military honors.

Casketbearers will be Ronie Davis, Phil Stone, Kennny Barnhill, Steve Murphy, Ray Chadwick, and Carl Murray.
