Carl "Mutt" Ezzell, Jr. age 70, of Wallace died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at his residence.

He was born April 25, 1936 in Sampson County and was the son of the late Carl Ezzell, Sr. and Ethel Waggstaff Ezzell Mize. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathy Diane Ezzell Spell and sister, Ruby Ezzell Rich.

Surviving are his special companion, Celia Horne of Wallace; daughter, Carla Ezzell Hudson and fiance', Dewey Gerald Sykes of Bladenboro; grandsons, Collin Trey Hudson and Billy Bradley Spell, Jr.; granddaughter, Brandy Shannon Spell; brothers, George James Ezzell of Boca Raton, FL., Kenneth Earl Ezzell of Lynchburg, VA, Charles Edward Ezzell of Wilmington; sisters, Minnie Ruth Moore of Clinton and Ethel Ann York of Greensboro; stepson, Charles Newman of Burgaw; step-daughter, Victoria Dawn Woodson of Wallace; step grandsons, Kevin Charles Williams, Shawn Michael Newman and Victor Duran Newman; great grandchildren, Skylar Brooke Williams, Harley Raynor and Nolan Raynor and special nephew, James Earl Rich.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev Donnie Myers and Rev Clay Carter officiating.

Burial will be in Hanchey Family Cemetery, Wallace.

Casketbearers will be James Earl Rich, Anthony Ezzell, Wayne Rich, Ronnie Rich, Kenny Moore and Bobby Ray Harvell.

Honorary casketbearers will be Deariean Brant Lanier, Gordan Dixon, Pete Johnson and Julian Jessup.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and other times at Mr. Ezzell's residence.
