Carl R.
King, Jr.
Dec 3, 1933 — Dec 3, 2013
Carl R. King, Jr., age 80, of Ivanhoe left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from Carolina East Hospice Care Center, Kenansville.
He was born December 3, 1933 in Union County, the son of the late Carl Roscoe King, Sr. and Teresa Price King.
Mr. King served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a manager of McDonalds for several years and later worked as a life insurance salesman until retirement. He was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Martha McCorkle King; his children, Randy C. King (Kay) of Wilmington, Angela K. McDonald (Hank) of Hampstead, Sherry K. Lowry (Jim) of Moundville, MO, Rodney King (Cindy) of Wilmington, Chris King of Ivanhoe, Scott King (Shannon) of Hampstead and Dwayne King of Ivanhoe; 8 grandchildren; brother, Frank King of Monroe; sister, Marty Greene of Charlotte and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Carl was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and brother. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was his family. As long as his health permitted, he enjoyed being outdoors fishing, growing vegetables in his garden. Being a hard worker and great provider for his family, Carl was always there for each of them. Carl loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh. A man of great integrity, he lived his life humbly before God and his fellowman. He will surely be missed, but treasured memories of Carl will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
