Carl Jeffrey "Jeff" Lewis of Currie, NC left on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 to be with his Father in heaven after a long and wonderful life as a husband, father, grandpa, brother, and son. Jeff was a genuinely kind and respected man to those who knew and loved him. He enjoyed boating on Black River, fishing, carpentry and creating a beautiful home life for his wife of 34 years, his soul mate and best friend, Sherry B. "Brandi" Lewis. His children, Brent Lewis and Evelyn Lewis along with Shawn Lubell brought Jeff honor and joy and were very much the focus of his life. Beloved mother, Mavis Evelyn Gore gave birth to Jeff on October 27, 1961 in Wilmington. Grandsons, Jeffrey Cain Lewis and Kadon Gage Lewis, were sunshine in Jeff's life. Also special in Jeff's world were his siblings, Tony Fontana (Cindy), Joseph G. Sandy, Melissa Woodcock (Steve), and many nieces and nephews.

A reserved and quiet man, he helped others without thought of gain or acknowledgement and was the kind of man whose word was as firm and trusted as his handshake. He was known for catching huge catfish and would share the bounty of his catch with friends and family. A great cook and resourceful man, Jeff could create a feast that would rival any chef's work. He will be greatly missed. Everyone knew that Jeff, affectionately called "Dolla" by his wife, left this world a better place having been here with us.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Currie Community Baptist Church, 28396 NC Hwy 210, Currie, NC 28435. The Rev. Jerry Worley will conduct the service. A time of sharing and fellowship will follow the service.
