Carl Edsel
Murray
March 17, 1937 – July 6, 2025
Carl Edsel Murray, 88, of Burgaw, passed from his earthly life to his eternal rest Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.
He was born March 17, 1937, in Pender County, North Carolina, the son of Bruce Murray and Rena Marshburn Murray. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Wells Murray.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Donna Murray Burnette (Clinton Ray); his granddaughter, Shelby Burnette; and his brother, Milton Murray.
For a number of years, Carl served proudly in the Army National Guard of North Carolina. He was a member of Mt. Holly Baptist Church.
Carl was a longtime farmer in Pender County. For Carl, farming was more than a profession, it was a way of life. He took pride in every harvest, found joy in a well-tilled field, and believed deeply in the importance of honest work. He was a neighbor you could count on, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story on the front porch after a long day.
Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Johnson conducting the service. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
Flowers are welcome as well as memorial contributions to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
