Carol Ann
Cavenaugh
Jan 18, 1946 — Feb 21, 2022
Carol Ann Cavenaugh, 76, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Monday, February 21, 2022, from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born on January 18, 1946, in Duplin County; the daughter of the late William David "W.D." and Ruth Williams Cavenaugh. Ann was also preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Jean Cavenaugh and Faye Wheeler.
Ann was a long-time member of Northeast Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she enjoyed being a part of the "Northeast Girls" and "Seniors". She worked for the Town of Teachey as Town Clerk for numerous years.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her son Gregory "Greg" Stewart Fields and wife Tammy of Pink Hill; and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fields-Quinn and husband Steven of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Kaylee Baker and fiancé Nick, Cheznie Quinn and Jonathan Steed and fiancé Anna; great grandson Jared Lee Davis; best friend for 58 years, Katherine "Kitty" Vaughn; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Ann dearly.
Ann was a loving mother and caring grandmother and friend. She enjoyed the simplest things in life but her greatest joy was her family. Ann loved to travel and work in her garden and yard. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and sewing. Ann was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace; and to those who knew her, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle presence who was willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Ann was a people's person who enjoyed being around others. With her great sense of humor, Ann loved to laugh and make others laugh. Most of all, she loved the Lord and was a dedicated Christian. Her life was an example of God's love to everyone around her. Ann will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
