Obituary

Carol Oxendine Holley, age 74, of Wilmington went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice after an extended illness.

She was born April 10, 1937 in Pembroke; the daughter of the late Lonnie H. and Minerva E. Oxendine. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 28 years, Clyde William Holley; brother, Leon Oxendine and sister, Lois Baird.

Carol retired from Lincoln Primary School after 20 years of service as a kindergarten teacher's assistant. She was a dedicated member of Northside Baptist Church where she was active with the children throughout the years. Carol was blessed with a love for the Lord, a genuine faith and a great church family that took her through an extended illness. As long as her health permitted, she was an avid bowler and member of the Women's Bowling League where she and other women bowled in numerous state tournaments.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving son and daughter-in-law, Clyde L. and Karen Holley of Wilmington; grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel and Curtis Holley; brothers, Denford Oxendine (Bess) of Kannapolis, Millard Oxendine of Pembroke and George Oxendine (Delores) of Duluth, GA; sisters, Deola Taylor (Horace) of Warsaw and Genauga "Gene" Ware (Clyde) of Conroe, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Northside Baptist Church with Rob Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery in Leland.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday, one hour prior the funeral service at the church.

Carol was a caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly; especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Being a good neighbor and friend she was loved by all who knew her. Carol enriched the world in which she lived, sharing her love, talents, knowledge, humor and abilities so that all could benefit. Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Carol.
