Obituary

Carol Ann Rash, age 64, gently passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at her residence.

She was born August 23, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Bennie and Anna Dietrich Urie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William G. Rash.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kimberly Smith and grandson, Christopher Rash both of the home and her niece, Victoria "Vicky' Parrish of Cottageville, South Carolina, who Carol thought of as a second daughter and helped to raise. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara J. Eck of Baltimore, Maryland; brothers, Robert "Bob" Urie, Gerald "Jerry" Urie and wife, Gini, and William "Billy" Poplovsky all of Baltimore, Maryland; aunt, Doris Kiesel of Baltimore, Maryland and several nieces and nephews.

Carol served her country honorably in the US Marine Corps.

Carol loved her family more than life. At the age of 23 years Carol was widowed when her husband was killed in Vietnam, leaving her to raise their six month old baby, Kimberly. Being a loving mother and a diligent worker, she reared and provided for Kimberly and Vicky and later became a wonderful grandmother to Christopher. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crafts, but reading was her passion. Carol adored all of God's creations, especially her dogs, turtles and many, many cats. Also gardening was a favorite pastime for Carol. It was evident that Carol lived each day to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of life. Her wonderful sense of humor, her laughter, her friendly, giving and loving nature will always fondly be remembered.

Carol's family is honoring her expressed wishes that no formal services be held. May you take time this day to reflect on a special memory of Carol. At a later date an informal gathering and time of sharing will be held.
