Carolene Lanier Mote, age 93, of Willard, NC passed from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

She was born in Duplin County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Cooper and Mattie Hatcher Lanier.  Mrs. Mote was also preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Mote; siblings, Ather Lanier, Walter Lanier, Jarvis Lanier and Ardell Lanier.

Surviving to cherish her memories are her devoted sons, George Milton Mote of Willard and Harlan Keith Mote and his wife, Vivian of Wallace; grandchildren, Amanda Schambs and husband, Brian and LeAnn Mote and fiancé, Eddie Hunter; great grandchildren, Keith, Katie, Conner, Landen and Annsley and numerous extended family and friends.

Carolene was a loving mother and caring grandmother.  She was a simple lady who enjoyed simple things.  Growing up on a farm, Carolene learn to work at an early age and continued as long her health permitted.  She loved watching people and fellowshipping with those she would see time to time.  Carolene lived a long life and saw many changes in the world and in the community she lived in.  She was a kind and generous lady who loved her family dearly.  Carolene's great grandchildren were the "apple of her eye". They would always put a smile on her face and joy in her heart when they were in her presence. Carolene will surely be missed but memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Rockfish Cemetery, Wallace, NC.

The family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. to 12:30p.m. on Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to the Church of Pentecostal Gathering, PO Box 297, Wallace, NC  28466.
