Carolyn Orr Blake, age 66, of Currie died peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

Mrs. Blake was born April 21, 1942 in Pender County to Mildred and J. W. Orr, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis K. Blake; son, Michael P. Jackson and father, J. W. Orr, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Canady (Paul) and Lisa Wells (Whren); grandsons, Mason Canady and JonMichael Peedin and James H. \\"Jay\\" Peedin IV; mother, Mildred Malpass Orr; sister, Peggy Armstrong (Buzz) and several nieces and nephews.

Family was very important to Carolyn as she cared for her parents until she became too consumed with her own illness. She also had a love for singing, music and crafts. Being very involved with her church, Carolyn served her church well with gladness in many capacities.

The family will receive visitors 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Blake residence.

Mrs. Blake will lie in state for viewing on Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at New Beginnings Community Church (formerly Myrtle Grove P.F.W.B. Church.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at New Beginnings Community Church ( formerly Myrtle Grove P.F.W.B. Church)with The Rev. Ray Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Mason Canady, Jay Peedin, JonMichael Peedin, Shep Richardson, Jr., Rodney Legates, and Jeremy Brown.

Honorary bearers will be Jackie Simmons and Stanley Gurganious.
