Carolyn Jeanette Caddell Evans, 73, of Rocky Point passed gently from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Friday evening, November 21, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.

She was born August 22, 1941 in Wilmington to the late Colon Calvin and Nettie Garner Caddell. Also remembered are her infant son; sisters, Geraldine Willetts, Bessie Weiss, Julie Naylor, Lillie Mae Baker and Pauline Knowles, all who preceded Carolyn in death.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Bruce Evans, Sr.; son, Bruce "Sonny" Evans, Jr. (Sharon); daughter, Beverly Westbrook (Gene); grandchildren, Michael Ray Evans, Brandon Evans, Randy Westbrook, Wesley Westbrook, Alan Westbrook, Carrie Westbrook, and Meghan Potter; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Emma Jones and Lenora Baker; and many very special nieces and nephews.

Not only was Carolyn a beloved wife and wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister, but a compassionate friend to all who knew her. She found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light in her life. She was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled her home with love, sunshine and good cooking. Carolyn always had a smile on her face, a hand stretched out, and a heart ready to show the love of Christ within her. Through her faith and Christian belief we know we will see her again and be united as a family once more.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dean Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be Michael Ray Evans, Brandon Evans, Randy Westbrook, Wesley Westbrook, Alan Westbrook and Joshua Register.
