Catherine Saunders Guy, age 99, of Burgaw died Thursday, November 27, 2008 in Duplin County.

She was born October 3, 1909, in Burgaw and was the daughter of the late John David and Mortie Moore Saunders. She was also predeceased by her husband, James Mosley Guy; her sons, John Guy, Jerry Guy and Allen Guy and daughter, Bettie Guy Yow.

Surviving are her son, James Mosley Guy of Burgaw; grandchildren, Robert Guy and wife, Pat, Michael Guy and wife, Tobi, Gina Herring and husband, Terry, Cathy Minard and husband, Ray, Susan Guy and Glenn Guy and wife, Sherry; seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Guy was a faithful and the oldest member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Retiring in 1974, Mrs. Guy had worked for 22 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Pender Memorial Hospital. She was a true Southern lady filled with grace, love for her family and a steadfast faith in God. Her sweet smile and gentle manner will always be remembered.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Reverend Ralph Evans officiating.

Burial will follow in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Raymond McCoy, Bob Cagel, Joe Bannerman, Bobby Bell, Carl Thigpen, J.B. Rivenbark, Glenn Guy and Zachary Guy.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
