Catherine Mallard Rhyne, age 82, of Wilmington died Friday, October 12, 2007 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Atkinson.

She was born January 14, 1925 in Rincon, GA, the daughter of the late Alexander Grady Mallard and Winnie Royal Mallard. She was also predeceased by her husband, Harry James Rhyne; sister, Blanche Hodges and brothers, Linwood Mallard and Dean Mallard.

Mrs. Rhyne was a member of Masonboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard G."Ricky" and Brenda Rhyne of Atkinson; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn R. and Mack Wilhite of Wilmington; granddaughter, Ashley Wilhite Cheesman and her husband, Brian of Winterville; sister, Lucille Andrews of Wilmington; brother, Alvin Mallard and his wife, Barbara of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15,2007 in Masonboro Baptist Church Cemetery with The Rev. Gordon Wright and The Rev. Larry Knowles officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside funeral service; 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at Masonboro Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Ricky and Brenda Rhyne.
