Catrina Michelle Gainey Taylor, 50, of Currie left her earthly life too soon on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 11, 1972 in Wilmington, the daughter of Juanita Safko Malpass and the late Johnny Arlee Gainey.

In addition to her mother, Michelle is survived by her husband of 24 years, Pete Taylor; children, Alasha Gainey, Meranda Bruce, Edmund "Billy" Malpass, Jr., Evan Taylor, Dalton Taylor, Dustin Taylor, and Wyatt Taylor; and 9 grandchildren.

Michelle loved her family dearly and enjoyed the many gatherings where she could spend time being with all that were precious to her. Born with an artistic spirit, she also delighted in making various crafts. Michelle's passing leaves an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Bear Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 3175 Blueberry Road, Currie.  Reverend Dale Blake will conduct the service.

At the cemetery following the service the family will visit with family and friends.
