Obituary

Cecil Edward Covington, age 80, of Wallace left this life for his eternal rest on Friday, February 14, 2014 from Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 19, 1933 in Crystal Hill, Va to the late Frank and Eddie Brown Covington. He was also predeceased by his brother, Billy Covington.

Cecil served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was owner and operator of Covington's Service Station, Tub~ N~Café and Edith's Dress Shop in Wallace for many years.

Surviving is his loving daughter, Kathy C. Lanier and husband, Willie of Wallace; grandchildren, Will Lanier, Christy Raynor and Buddy Raynor and wife, Alison; great grandson, Baines Raynor; brother, Bobby Covington and wife, Jean of Richmond, VA; sister, Peggy Adams and husband, Calvin of Roanoke, VA ; special friends, Aileen Futrell and Edith Sykes and numerous friends.

Cecil was a caring father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a people's person who never met a stranger. With keen sense of humor and joyful spirit, he made friends far and near. He loved to laugh and to make other's laugh with him. Cecil will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
