Cecil Royal Horne, age 67, of Currie died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at new Hanover Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born August 5, 1941 in Bladen County and was the son of the late Charlie Robert and Ethel May Sessioms Horne. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lula Faircloth.

Surviving are his wife of 52 yeras, Evelyn Marie Mears Horne of the home; children, Sharon Mathis (Steve) of Chester, Virginia, Karen McCourtie of Currie, Charles Horne of Currie, and David Horne (Lisa) of Wilmington; twelve grandchildren; and brother, Harold Horne (Sally) of Wilmington.

Mr. Horne served his country honorably in the US Army. For many years he was a truck driver. Most recently he has been a devoted caregiver to his disabled wife. Cherished memories of Cecil will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Pineview Baptist Church, Flemmington Rd (off of US Hwy 421), Wilmington NC, with Pastor David Robbins officiating.

Following the memorial service lunch and a time of sharing and fellowship will be in the church fellowship hall.

Cecil Horne's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the pastor and members of Pineview Baptist Church for their pryers, visits and support during Cecil's illness and passing from this earth to his eternal home.
