Mr. Cecil Moore Pate, age 87, of Willard left this life for his eternal rest on Monday, April 21, 2014 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on February 16, 1927 in Duplin County and was the son of the late George and Lettie Outlaw Pate. He was also predeceased by his son, Kerry Pate and brothers, Willard Pate, Garland Pate, Frank Pate and Melvin Pate.

Mr. Pate is survived by his best friend and wife of 63 years, Virginia Giddeons Pate of Willard; son, George Henry Pate and wife, Marty of Orange Park, Florida; step grandsons, Derryck Zimmerman and Joshua Zimmerman also of Orange Park, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Cecil was a devoted husband and caring father who loved his family dearly. He was an honest man that worked hard for his family. When his health permitted he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. With a keen sense of humor and charitable spirit, Cecil cultivated enduring friendships that continued throughout the years. Cecil was a man of great integrity and will be missed by all who knew him. His family is grateful to God for his life and for your friendship and prayers.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha with the Reverend Bob Millis officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be given to Penderlea Fire Department, 4005 NC Hwy 11, Willard, NC 28478 or to Union Rescue Squad, PO Box 1, Willard, NC 28478.
