Cecil Ray Ward, age 93, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

He was born on November 4, 1928 in Wilmington, NC to the late Clarence Ward and Odie (King) Wilkins.

Cecil grew up on Delgado Street in Wilmington. He proudly served in the U.S. Army twice and the U.S. Airforce once. Cecil was an avid golfer and enjoyed working on golf courses. He worked with professional golfer, Frankie Morgan, for many years on golf courses around the country. Cecil was loved by all that knew him. He was a bright light to many people and will be deeply missed.

Cecil is survived by his sister, Shirley Stokley; many nieces and nephews; and many other family members.

Cecil was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Carney; nephew, Robert Copeland; and niece, Doris Carney.

A memorial service will be held at Gibson Avenue Baptist Church in Wilmington on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1pm with Pastor Johnathan Rochelle officiating.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in memory of Cecil may be made to Gibson Avenue Baptist Church, 2037 Wrightsville Ave, Wilmington, NC 28403.
