Obituary

Charles Leland Bennett, 86, of Hampstead, crossed over to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington.

He was born on August 28, 1938, in Endicott, NY, to the late Howard Raymond Bennett and the late Benona Elvira Lindsay Bennett.

After his stint in the Navy, Chuck spent a good part of his life in law enforcement. He retired from the Tioga County Sheriff's Department before moving south. He then proceeded to put in another twenty years at UNCW as a security guard. In his younger days, Chuck excelled in sports and set many records in high school. He also enjoyed hunting, bowling, and playing golf. Chuck touched and affected many lives and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 58 years, Deanna Beaulieu Bennett; his sons, Eric Bennett (Laura), Alan Bennett, and Scott Bennett (Rosemary); his daughters, Jennifer Wallis and Lori Rice (Emery); stepdaughters, JoAnn Woodward (Tom), Kathy Millward, and Lissa Goble (Bryan); many grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Raymond, Ralph, and Bert.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Chuck's honor to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Livingstones Tabernacle in Hampstead with Sherry Kittrell officiating.
