Charles William Brinkley, Jr. 76, of Teachey left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from Vidant Health Care in Greenville.
Born on June 7, 1937, in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Charlie Williams Brinkley, Sr. and Virginia Jackson Brinkley. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Brinkley Scott.

He also served his country honorably in the National Guard for 9 years. He was an active member of Teachey Presbyterian Church as long as his health permitted.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 56 years, Edith Register Brinkley; his loving children, Gayle Brinkley English (Steve) of Teachey, Alice Brinkley Hobin (Lt. Colonel Patrick Hobin) of Fuquay Varina; grandchildren, Lauren Scott Smith (Scott), Matthew English (Amanda), Will Scott, Lindsey English, Alexandra Hobin, Caroline Hobin and Noah Long; sisters, Geraldine Davenport (Tootsie) of Kenansville and Frances Brown of Teachey; son-in-law, William D. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace, with Masonic Rites. Casketbearers will be Gilbert Alphin, Joey Brinkley, Matthew English, Art Kenan, Randy Kenan, Joey Smith, David Register and Will Scott.
Charles was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He was also a hard worker. No one ever out worked him. He is a testiment to the type of Americans that built this country - a simple hard working, God-fearing man who sent three daughters to college. A strong, courageous and yet gentle man who brought out the good in those near to him, dedicated to his family and community, he was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors, especially hunting or riding his John Deere "˜Gator'. Charles lived his life based on a simple creed: "˜Work hard, do justice, love your neighbor and walk humbly with God'. Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Teachey Presbyterian Church, PO Box 156, Teachey, NC 28464.
