Charles Edward Buckner, age 82, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
He was born December 4, 1934 in Duplin County and was the son of the late David Wooten Buckner and Lucy Batts Buckner Everette. He was also predeceased by his brother David Buckner and sister Mary Smith.
Charles served his country honorably in the US Army and was a member of Dobson Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Marcia Blanton Buckner; his sons, Joseph "Joe" E. Buckner of Rose Hill, Charles Dean Buckner and wife Robin of Bolivia, Gilbert Buckner and wife Terry of Rose Hill and Timothy Wooten Buckner and wife LeeAnn of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Brian Buckner and wife Melissa, Kelsy Drew Buckner and Allison Buckner; brother, Donald Buckner and wife Ruth of Rose Hill; sisters, Elizabeth "Lib" Benton of Wallace, Susie Galant of Greensboro and Annette Hamonds and husband Clyde of Fayetteville; special niece, June Robinson and husband Jimmy of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Charles was a simple man who loved his family and friends dearly. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family. To Charles, no one was a stranger. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Charles owned and operated Buckner's TV Repair. During this time he developed many friendships that has lasted throughout the years. Charles will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Willis and Pastor Rodney Bonham officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Friday, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Dobson Chapel Church, 1473 S NC Hwy 50, Magnolia, NC 28453 or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
