Charles Lathan English, age 95, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, November 14, 2011.

He was born June 22, 1916 in Pender County to the late Sudie English Tucker. He is also predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth English; brothers, Linwood Tucker and James Tucker and sister, Adell Tucker Wood.

Mr. English served his country honorably in General Patton's 3rd Army in the European Theater of Operation and in the Pacific during WWII. As a MP rising to the rank of Sergeant, he was a kind and friendly man who enjoyed helping others. He attended Penile PFWB church his entire life excluding the time he spent serving his country. Lathan was a man of impeccable character and will surely be missed.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his brother, Julian G. Tucker (CMSGT USAF RET), of Clinton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Tew officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.
