Charles Henry Futrell, 71, of Wallace passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Vidant Duplin Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 13, 1944 in Sampson County and was the son of Maggie Smith Futrell of Wallace and the late Carlea Futrell. He was also predeceased by his wife, Emma Ruth Brown Futrell in 2012.

Charles is survived by his devoted children, Timothy Earl Futrell and special friend, Clara Brinson, Ronnie Dwayne Futrell and special friend, Amanda Maria Jones and Charlotte Ruth Futrell Losaw and husband, Mark Anthony, all of Wallace; grandchildren, Crystal Renee Best and friend, Christopher London Miller, Charles Ray Best, Johnathan Losaw, Heather Nicole Losaw, Samuel Elijah Jones Futrell, General Lee Jones Futrell and Maranda Marie Jones Futrell; 2 great granddaughters, Lisa Nicole Losaw and Ashley Grace Miller; brothers, Carl Franklin Futrell and Norman Harvey Futrell; sisters, Mary Pate and Lois Jackson and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles was a loving father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker and was willing to help anybody in need. Charles loved riding motorcycles, tinkering on all types of vehicles and playing "˜scratch-off' tickets. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh also. Charles was a simple man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. With his witty personality and loved for others, he was a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha with the Reverend Reid Casteen officiating.

Casketbearers will be Wayne Summerlin, David Wayne Futrell, Timy Rossell, Kirby Bird, Woodrow Brinson, Jr. and Jason Allen Brinson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, one hour prior to the service at Riverview Memorial Park.
