Charles Thomas "Tommy" Greene, of 206 Dover Road, Wilmington passed away at his home on Monday January 1, 2024.  He was 84 years old.  Born in Carvers Creek North Carolina on February 20, 1939.  He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Naomi Greene and his sisters Doris Henry and Jackie Kraus.   Charlie was a long-time resident of Carolina Beach, having grown up there and serving as a lifeguard in the 1950s.  He loved spending time at the beach.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Anne Greene, son Jack Greene and his wife Lisa, and daughter, Jennifer Greiner and her husband Chuck (of Gaylordsville, CT) as well as 6 grandchildren Nathaniel and Gabriel Greene and Lauren, Sara, Charlie, and Elizabeth Greiner.

Charlie graduated from New Hanover High School in 1957.  He worked for General Electric and lived in Vermont, Maine, and South Carolina before settling back in Wilmington, NC in 1975.  He was an avid gardener and collector.  Charlie had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Pine Valley Baptist Church, and he cherished his family and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, January 6th at Pine Valley Baptist Church, 3940 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC 28403. Visitation will be at 10am and Celebration of Life service will be at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Pine Valley Baptist Church Memorial Wall at www.pinevalleybc.org or the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare at lifecare.org or by mail at 1406 Physicians Drive Wilmington, NC 28401.
