Charles Lynn Hux, 62, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at his home in Surf City, NC.

Born September 30, 1950, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Charles attended Millbrook High School, Hargrave Academy, Campbell College and Cape Fear Community College.

An avid outdoorsman, Charles lived in Surf City for more than 40 years and loved fishing in the area and spending time on the water. He owned and operated Patio Playground until 2004, and in his retirement his beautiful home and garden became his passion. Other than playing an occasional practical joke, he loved nothing more than sharing wildlife and the outdoors with his great nieces and nephew.

In recent years he cared for his mother, Stella, until her passing in July of 2012. The care and compassion he showed her will always be an inspiration for his family, and was a true reflection of Charles as a person.

He is survived by his nephews, Mason (Amy) Hux of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Spencer (Brooke) Hux of Johns Island, SC; niece, Emily (Corey) Lieske of Marietta, GA.; sister-in-law, Anne Hux of Atlanta, GA; five great nieces, Avery Lieske, Violet and Livian Hux, Maclary and Charlotte Hux; and one great-nephew, Ben Lieske.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Stella Hux and his brother, Jerry.

A private memorial service is scheduled for Friday, June 14, 2013.
