Charles Thomas Rogers

Charles Thomas Rogers, age 83, of Willard died Friday, January 29, 2010 at Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center.

He was born August 24, 1926 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Kirby Smith and Dollie Elizabeth Norris Rogers. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Daril Rogers, David Rogers, Kirby Rogers, Linwood Rogers, Lloyd Rogers, Ralph Rogers and sister, Louise Rogers Lietz.

Mr. Rogers served his country honorably in the US Navy retiring after twenty years of service. He was a member of Penderlea Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of eight years, Grace Miller Rogers of the home; step children, William Graylon Giddens and wife, Pansy, Gwendolyn Ann Maready and husband, Bryant, all of Wallace and Michael Tisdail of Machesney Park, IL; step grandchildren, Dustin Raynor, Kaylan Giddens, Nicholas Maready, Brandon Maready and Cassie Maready; brothers, Clarence Rogers of St. Petersburg, FL and Roy Rogers of Wallace; sisters, Violet Hatcher and Evelyn Stallings, both of Wallace; sisters-in-law, Latrelle Rogers of Rincon, GA and Rita Rogers of Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be 3:00 pm Monday, February 1, 2010 at Potts Memorial Cemetery in Willard with the Rev. George W. "Buster" Price officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Penderlea Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the Roger's home in Willard.

The family extends special thanks to Nancy and Tammy Giddens, Faye Ezzell, Ann Outlaw, Barbara James and Vicki Deaver for their care and support.
