Charles Joseph Whitehurst, age 37, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL.

He was born on September 19, 1986 in Wilmington, NC to Tracey Royal Peoples and the late Charles Linwood Whitehurst.

Charles played lacrosse at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC. He received a Bachelor's degree in the Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC, and later became a sous-chef. Charles, a music lover, also enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb. He was a bright light to many people, and he will be dearly missed.

Charles is survived by his mother, Tracey Royal Peoples and husband, Andrew Peoples; grandmother, Carolyn Whitehurst; daughter, Madison; brother, Steven Whitehurst (Jennifer); nephews, Elijah and Cameron; niece Savannah; uncle, Billy Whitehurst; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his father, Charles was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Whitehurst and Joseph Royal; and grandmother, Kay Royal.

A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 4pm.
