Obituary

Charles Floyd Woodcock, 77, of Rocky Point died Friday, February 18, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 11, 1933 in Pender County, the son of the late Joseph Floyd and Thelma Merritt Woodcock. He was predeceased by a son, Charles Dale Woodcock.

Surviving are his daughter, Charlene McPherson (John) of Elizabeth City; son, Max Woodcock (Betty) of New Bern; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson (Frank), Jeremy McPherson (Wendy), and Nathan Woodcock; three great grandchildren; brother, Roy Lee Woodcock (Annie Pearl) of Rocky Point; three nieces and one nephew.

Charles enjoyed the simple things in life, but his greatest joy was family. He loved fishing, talking with family and friends, and telling jokes. Most importantly He loved the Lord and reading his Bible that his niece, Debbie, gave to him. Charles' hardy laughter, warm smile and humorous personality will always be fondly remembered.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Rocky Point Baptist Church with The Rev. Ryan Minkler officiating. Following the service there will be a time of visitation and sharing memories in the church fellowship hall.
