Obituary

Charles Edmond Woodcock, Sr., 85, of Atkinson entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at his home with family at his bedside.

He was born January 17, 1933 in Pender County, the son of the late Edmond and Mary Lucille Corbett Woodcock. Also remembered are his siblings, Emily McLaurin and Mary Edna Woodcock, who preceded Charles in death.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, Barbara "Susie" Rivenbark Woodcock; children, Charles E. Woodcock, Jr. (Lynn), Patricia Woodcock Jenkins (Joseph) and Jeffery D. Woodcock; grandchildren, Dwayne Woodcock (Nikki), Stephanie Woodcock, and Paul Lea Avery III (Julie); great grandchildren, Hannah, Gabriel "Gabe", Noelle and Emma; sisters, Bertha Poulson and Linda Woodcock; brother, Stanley Woodcock (Julie); and many extended family and friends.

Charles' family and friends knew him best as having a kind heart of gold and a witty sense of humor that lasted over eight decades. He was a Christian man and diligent worker; farming in his younger years, retired from Squires Timber/Hardwoods after working for over twenty years and continued part time work until well into his eighties. Being devoted to his family, Charles loved his family took good care of them. Early in his life, Charles gave time to his country while serving honorably in the US Army. Amongst the legacies Charles leaves to us are the importance of God, Family and Country.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Merrell McKoy will conduct the service.

Burial will follow in Woodcock Cemetery, Beattys Bridge Road, Atkinson.
