Charme Frances Kirkland, age 89, of Burgaw, NC passed peacefully from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 9, 1922 in Gilmer County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Hershal and Lily Mae Elliott Nelson.

Surviving is her loving family; her daughter, Priscilla Rogers of Burgaw, NC; grandchildren, Cal Ray Rogers, Franklin "Pete" Rogers, Charme McGinn and her husband, Sean, and Priscilla Rogers all of Wilmington, NC; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.

Charme loved her family and was the best mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend anyone could ask for. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She enjoyed being outdoors in God's beautiful world working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Her bright smile, joyous personality and caring manner are cherished and will be greatly missed.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa, Tennessee.
